In Oxford, England, the Mulberry Bush boarding school is home to 40 children who are unable to succeed in mainstream schools. For these traumatized children with severe behavioural problems, this is the chance to turn their young lives around. Director Kim Longinotto quietly observes the staff, students and their families over the course of a year. Seemingly nothing is off limits as the children erupt into shocking tantrums, cursing, kicking and the occasional wee in the corners of their rooms.
