Drama/Feature Films/That's So Gay
No one has more problems than gay siblings Shirley and Omer. Omer is almost thirty and still hasn’t found himself—or the man of his dreams. Shirley is a little younger and has already nabbed her dream woman, Michal, owner of the hippest café in town (and Shirley’s boss). But the thought of settling down scares Shirley, who wonders if she’s ready to give up her long-held plan of travelling to Antarctica. Set in Tel Aviv, the film follows the siblings as they sort through their feelings and prepare for adulthood, while friends and relatives chime in with their advice and problems of their own. No one has more of either than their Jewish mother from Hell. From acclaimed writer/director Yair Hochner, comes the first Israeli queer romantic comedy.

Drama/Feature Films/VF @ AFF
Based on the original comics of Goscinny and Uderzo, Asterix and Obelix are back with their third live-action instalment of adventure and hilarity! This time around, the original 1968 story Asterix at the Olympic Games gets the big-screen treatment with spot-on performances by Gerard Depardieu and Clovis Cornillac. A lovesick Gaul wants to be engaged to Greek Princess Irina but her father begs her to marry Julius Caesar's son, Brutus. Ultimately, she decides to wed the winner of the upcoming 50 B.C. Olympic Games. Enter Gaul’s recruitment of Asterix and Obelix to help him win. However, their use of strength-giving magic potion gets them banned—a gag that arguably has even more topical resonance in this Olympic year than it did back in 1968. Also flying the flag for Gaul at the Games is Lovesix, a young swain in love with the Princess, whom he's been courting from afar with poems penned by Obelix. The torch is lit, and the teams are set for a competition you don’t want to leave at the starting line. Will it be gold medals or the agony of defeat? Asterix at the Olympics was released earlier this year in France and is France’s most expensive movie ever made. Note: This film is in French only with no English subtitles.
