Leon Bronstein is just another young man of 17 searching for his identity. The only problem is the one he finds belongs to the 20th-century revolutionary Leon Trotsky. Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel) is not your average Montreal West high school student. For one thing, none of his peers can claim to be the reincarnation of early 20th-century Soviet iconoclast and Red Army hero, Leon Trotsky. When his father (Saul Rubinek) sends Leon to public school as punishment for starting a hunger strike at Papa’s clothing factory, Leon quickly lends new meaning to the term “student union,” determined as he is to live out his preordained destiny to the fullest and change the world. Montreal-born writer/director/actor Jacob Tierney ( Twist, This is My Father ) is back with this accomplished hilarious second feature, with music composed by Montreal band Malajube. The Trotsky is a satirical take on the classic, coming-of-age tale. Director/actor Jacob Tierney, actor Jay Baruchel, actresses Jessica Pare and Emily Hampshire and producer Kevin Tierney will be in attendance at the screening.

Sammy Smalls is literally too awkward for sex. The 21-year-old survived cancer as a kid, but she can't make it through one sexual encounter without breaking into uncontrollable laughter. When Sammy's crush, a scruffy-but-cute musician named Eugene, tells her they're sexually incompatible, Sammy decides to take matters into her own hands. Using just about anyone she can find, from her neighbours to the shoplifters she catches at her job as a store security guard, Sammy hones her skills in bed. Sook-Yin Lee directs this wonderfully quirky black comedy.
