Trainspotting meets Reservoir Dogs in Gary Yates' adaptation of Lee MacDougall's hit play, High Life. It's 1983, and a rumpled quartet of morphine addicts arrive at the idea of robbing a relatively new phenomenon, the Automated Teller Machine (ATM). Timothy Olyphant plays Dick, the brains behind the operation; Rossif Sutherland oozes charm—and alas, another substance that is precious and more brightly coloured—as Billy, the substance-abuser's pretty-boy frontman who sets up the heist. And while things take several unexpected turns, a soundtrack consisting mainly of über-cool April Wine classics keeps High Life speeding along, whatever the destination.

Fast, funny and perfectly encapsulating the decayed state of youth culture in the early 1980s, High Life is one heist movie you won't soon forget.
